About Local Homeschool Support Groups (LocalHS)
LocalHS provides an extensive database of local homeschool support groups, putting local support at your fingertips. This searchable index of Local Homeschool Support Groups in the U.S., lists each support group geographically by county and state.
LocalHS provides a free listing to homeschool support group leaders. It is our desire to assist in bringing people together. Homeschoolers often make lasting connections within their own communities. No one should have to homeschool alone. We can all use a friend and playmates for our children. You will find listings for local Christian groups, radical unschoolers, inclusive organizations, sports teams, music lessons, math tutors and much more.
Our offer for a free listing applies only to local support groups and organizations that are free or charge only a small membership fee to cover the costs of providing services to their members and outreach programs. However, LocalHS does not provide free listings for commercial schools and those operating homeschool businesses. Please consider our cost effective Smart Ads, it's a terrific way to launch your new or gently used business and get the word out to those who are seeking your services.
LocalHS contains educational topics of interest to the author and her homeschooling family and our readers. I make no excuse for that. Of course the articles contained on this site are intended to help others in their homeschooling efforts. Homeschooling is a lifestyle choice and an adventure that I wouldn't miss for the world. I've learned so much during this process. The funny thing about homeschooling is that no matter how much you think you know, there is always more to learn.
If you are new to homeschooling -- remember it's not the destination, it's the journey. Life is a journey that is best lived in the moment. These precious years with our children once spent are gone forever -- you can't buy or steal them back. I have to constantly remind myself to live each moment to the fullest. When you spend each day with your children, it won't be an easy ride, you have to learn to give and take, you have to learn cooperation and respect. Homeschooling is an awesome ride -- enjoy it.
I've included workshop recommendations, homeschool contests, field trip ideas and plenty of resources that you may find interesting. Be sure to check out our blog, The Homeschool Scuttle.
About the Hall Family
My husband and I are work-at-home, homeschooling parents. My husband started our first website back in 1998, "Diamond In The Rough." We had a monthly e-zine called "The Last Laugh," which we published, with over 2,500 members — alot for that time period. I was slow to get started in the online world. Shawn pushed me for three long years before I finally began working on our websites. Today I manage more than 100 sites.
Our passion lies in the great outdoors. The Hall family can often be found taking walks around town, riding our bikes and taking short hikes in and around the Sierra Mountain side. A motivating factor in starting our own homeschool business was to allow us to move to our mountain community, which we both dearly love. Twain Harte, CA has been our home now for more than ten years, it was a struggle to get here but our business continues to grow by leaps and bounds each year, allowing us the luxury of living close to God's majestic beauty. I can't imagine ever living anywhere else.
About 12 Point Design
Our business, 12 Point Design provides webhosting, design and consulting service for businesses around the globe and technical services for our local clients. We provide hosting services for several state-wide homeschooling organizations as well as various sites both large and small. Shawn provides technical and design support for our clients, area residents and online for Homeschooling Webmasters as well as on Design Advice, for homeschoolers who maintain both large and small websites.
We have both been active in the homeschooling community for years, Annette since 1984, when she first began homeschooling. Homeschooling families may know Annette from the years she served as California Homeschool Network's Legislative Chair. She is active on many online homeschooling groups and is an advocate for family rights and CPS issues.
As our way of giving back to the homeschool community, we provide free web-hosting to homeschool families whose sites are primarily about homeschooling. Our free offer for homeschoolers provides up to 25 mb of space (enough for hundreds of pages) and 5 gb of bandwidth (enough for well over 100,000 page views a month).
Maybe you just want a blog to get started, or one for the kids. Join Homeschool WebHost, you can start your own website today. The best part is its free. No strings.
If you have a more professional site, or just a larger site, we have good news. Homeschool business owners can get 50% off their hosting, be sure to ask me how. (I would say for life, we've offered that same special to homeschoolers since we began the business, but I don't want to jinx it.)
Advantages for Homeschoolers
Having your own domain means you won't have to change E-mail addresses if you change hosting providers, which means your visitors will always be able to contact you. If you own and operate your own business, this can result in higher profits for your company.
