Uniting & Supporting Families for Friendship & Fun!

Home Schooling families with the common goal of encouraging their children to build positive & lasting friendships among a similar peer group. We also provide a welcoming community of home schooling Moms (& Dads) for support & encouragement. Weekly activities-include: academic classes, field trips, & park days. Families are fun, welcoming, thoughtful, & we all try to keep it REAL! Many families use an eclectic approach, but we also have families knowledgable in many methods of home education-some examples include: Charlotte Mason, Unit Studies, & Classical education. Most families are Christian - but, we will not exclude families from membership, due to Religious beliefs.

Secular Homeschoolers of NC
(SHNC)

Secular Homeschoolers of North Carolina was founded in July 2004 out of a need for a welcoming group for homeschooling families in and around Johnston County inclusive of all ethnicities, faiths, ages, lifestyles and homeschooling styles. The purpose of the group is to provide social and educational opportunities for a variety of ages since homeschooling involves the entire family. Our on-line goal is to provide an open forum to discuss any subject pertinent to homeschooling with tolerance, dignity and respect. Our off-line goal is to gather and build a community that will support us throughout our homeschooling experience.
