The Lit Group is a meeting of homeschooled teens in a fun, safe, relaxed but oriented environment. We read a mix of classic literature, "teen literature," and general fiction. Each week after the book discussion there's time to hang out, snack, and chat.

Meeting: We meet each Friday afternoon, 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Batavia.

An all inclusive private homeschool group.

TEACH is a private, volunteer-run group for families in the NW suburbs of Chicago. TEACH supports many different homeschooling styles and offers educational opportunities, social activities and resources for our member families. We offer: park days, open gym, monthly bowling, monthly nature hikes, teen activities for grade 6 and up, parent meetings, reading programs, field trips, service projects, ice skating, and more!

CHIPS is a group for diverse homeschooling families. Whether you're unschooling, using a more relaxed, eclectic approach or employing an educational program like Montessori or Waldorf, you'll feel welcome at CHIPS. Our goal is to provide opportunities for social interaction and creative play for our children as well as a place for parents of different homeschool philosophies to meet and interact. MRU children range in age from infant to teen.

We have children that range in age from infant to teen. The term "unschooling" means that we practice child-led learning, as opposed to following a set curriculum. Our special-interest groups currently include anime club, science club, game day, gym day, fiber arts group, and parent's night out. We also produce Undercurrents, our own journal of arts and literature, and participate in homeschool acting classes, swimming, and skating days.

Meeting: We meet every Wednesday for an unstructured play group, and on other days for special field trips and special-interest groups.

Membership to the Prairie Connection is free! We provide members with monthly newsletters, a resource library, membership card, legislative news and alerts, and a membership handbook full of homeschooling resources, and homeschool legal information. We gather in fellowship year-round, several times each month to provide support, give encouragement, share information and to participate in fun and educational activities. Our mission is to provide support, information and encouragement to families who wish to homeschool.

Meeting: We meet weekly indoors during the colder months in Cook or DuPage county, and outdoors in a park during warmer weather in DuPage county. We hold monthly parent meetings in DuPage county, and seasonal co-op classes, clubs and activities.
